General Lü Zhengcao
   Born in 1905 in Liaoning Province.

Lü Zhengcao was conferred the rank of General in 1955.

On December 9, 1942, Commander Lü Zhengcao laid a wreath to the grave of Dr.Dwarkanath S. Kotnis (a doctor of the Indian medical team to China), at a memorial gathering held by the Central Hebei Plain Military Area Command.

In 1938, Lü Zhengcao, a member of the CPC and commander of 691st Regiment of Kuomintang's 53rd Army, objected to retreat to the south from the Central Hebei, and renamed his troops as the People's Self-Defense Army to keep on fighting Japanese invaders. Later, he set up the anti-Japanese base in the Central Hebei and his units were reorganized into the Eighth Route Army. In the picture, the man standing at the center on the boat was Lü Zhengcao.

In 1942, over 50,000 Japanese troops launched a mopping-up operation against our anti-Japanese base. The picture shows Lü zhengcao, Commander of the Central Hebei Plain Military Area, was at the front.
