Army sends
teams to inspect SARS prevention work
PLA Daily 2003-05-09
Approved by the Central Military Commission,
the PLA's Anti-SARS Office sent its first batch of inspection
teams to military units to check SARS prevention work.
Composed of medical experts and senior officials
from the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA, the
teams were sent to the military units in late April.
Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Committee
and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, urged
the teams to earnestly fulfill their inspection task and give
guidance to military organizations in SARS prevention.
Inspection teams will focus its inspection work
on military organs, institutes, colleges, hospitals and epidemic
prevention organizations. The information gathered will be reported
to the army's anti-SARS office.
After days of inspections, the teams found that
the anti-SARS work had been carried out satisfactorily by various
military organizations, and each organization has, in light of
their own special situation, set up special teams, such as the
leading group, SARS prevention office, supervision team, etc,
to effectively guide the SARS prevention work.
Meanwhile military units make full use TV, newspapers
and other means to popularize the knowledge on SARS treatment
and prevention so as to build up confidence of the military units
in their fight against SARS.
