BEIJING, July 13 (ChinaMil) -- The opening ceremony of the "National Nuclear Emergency Response Action Technical Support Center" and the "Theory Teaching Base of China Nuclear Emergency Rescue Team" was held in the Chemical Defense Institute of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on July 12.
This marks the official operation of China’s only national nuclear emergency decision-making and advisory body and nuclear emergency rescue personnel training base undertaken independently by the Chinese military.
The center will provide technical advice, technical support and technical guidance for national nuclear emergency decision-making, nuclear accidents emergency disposal and anti-nuclear and radiological terrorism.
The center will also carry out fundamental research on nuclear emergency operations, technical service support as well as research and development of related technology and equipment.
The nuclear emergency rescue personnel training base will serve as a platform of theory teaching and training for the backbones of the national nuclear emergency rescue team. The base will act as a resource sharing platform for the rescue team to carry out professional skills training and expert advisory services. The base will also provide an open platform to expand international multilateral cooperation for the rescue team.
Zhang Mingcai, deputy chief of staff of the PLA Army and Yao Bin, deputy chief of China’s Nuclear Emergency Response Office and head of the Nuclear Emergency and Security Division under the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, attended the ceremony.
