17 PLA Army teams to Int'l Army Games 2016 arrive in competition areas

MOSCOW, July 5 (ChinaMil) -- Members of 17 teams from the Chinese PLA Army for the International Army Games 2016 have all reached the competition areas in Russia and Kazakhstan together with part of the hardware.

At 19:15 on July 23, local time, the hardware of a Chinese team for the Clear Sky competition arrived in Yeysk of Russia after 14 days of railway transportation. The members and hardware of this team are from a brigade of the PLA Army's 41th Combined Corps under the Southern Theatre Command.

Tank Biathlon competition to be held at the Alabino training range in Moscow Region is the most competitive event with teams from 16 countries participating in the contests. The Chinese team to participate in the Tank Biathlon is the first to arrive among the 16 participants with the tank crews and their hardware arriving at the Alabino training range on July 19, local time. The team members from a PLA Army brigade stationed in Xinjiang are making pre-competition preparations to brace for various challenges in the fierce contests.

Another Chinese team to participate in Suvorov Attack competition is also making pre-competition preparations at the Alabino training range. Members of this team are from the PLA Army's 39th Combined Corps, and they are full of confidence to win medals in the competition.

Six Chinese teams will use weapons and equipment provided by the hosts for the first time in the competitions of Masters of Artillery Fire, Sniper Frontier, Elbrus Ring, Open Water, True Friend and Keys to the Sky. On July 23 local time, the Chinese team to participate in Open Water competition officially received the equipment provided by Russia. China won the runner-up at last year’s Open Water event.
