MOSCOW, August 9 (ChinaMil) -- The “Aviadarts-2016” international contest, one of the twenty-three contests of the International Army Games 2016, wrapped up in Moscow at 7 pm on August 6, 2016, local time. The Chinese PLA Air Force won the runner-up in the group of bomber.
The second stage of the competition, flight to attack ground target, began on August 6 according to the "Aviadarts-2016" competition schedule. All teams are required to conduct comprehensive strike against ground targets within specific time and airspace. The ranking is determined by attack accuracy.
The JH-7 fighter-bombers, nicknamed "Flying Leopard", attached to the Chinese PLA Air Force competed against famous world military aircraft such as Su-27 fighter jet, Su-30 fighter-bomber, Su-34 fighter-bomber, Su-35 fighter jet, IL-76 transport aircraft, Ka-52 armed helicopter and so on.
48 crews participated in the competition performed in the order of fighters, attack aircraft, fighter bombers, transport aircraft and armed helicopters.
The Chinese JH-7 fighter-bomber took off with four air-to-ground rockets and one 250-kg aviation bomb at 6:10 pm, local time. It soon reached the designated airspace and dropped an aviation bomb at simulated ground target. Then, it re-entered the designated airspace and fired another four rockets to simulated targets.
The aviation bomb dropped by the Chinese JH-7 accurately hit the bull's-eye. Also, the Chinese team was the only team whose rockets hit at all simulated targets among all participating teams, according to the scorekeepers of the “Aviadarts-2016” competition.
The Chinese PLA Air Force earned full score in the second stage of the “Aviadarts-2016” competition and the total score of China finally ranked No.2 in the group of bomber this year.
The last two MI-8 helicopters successfully returned after firing rockets and aviation bombs at simulated ground targets at 7 pm on August 6, local time, marking the end of the whole “Aviadarts-2016” international competition.
