BEIJING, Aug 12 (ChinaMil) -- The "Firepower-2016•Shandan" military exercise kicked off on August 10 at a training base in northwest China. The troops of an air-defense brigade of the 47th Combined Corps of the PLA Army, who had been taking cover at the foot of the Qilian Mountain for days, removed camouflages and quickly maneuvered to the preplanned operational area.
The "Firepower-2016•Shandan" military exercise is the first cross-Theater Command air-defense exercise the PLA Army has organized since the establishment of its leading body in early 2016. According to the exercise plan, five Army air-defense combat units from the five theater commands of the PLA, acting as the "Red Army", will come to the training base one by one and engage with the professional "Blue Army", an aviation regiment of the PLA Air Force.
The "Firepower-2016•Shandan" exercise focuses on drilling of reconnaissance and anti-reconnaissance, jamming and anti-jamming, locking and anti-locking, as well as striking and anti-striking in unfamiliar areas with complex combat conditions, aiming to beef up the combat capability of the air-defense force of the PLA Army.
