PLA Garrison in HK holds blood donation activity

HONG KONG, Aug. 18 (ChinaMil) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison organized the 19th non-remunerated blood donation at the Gun Club Hill Barracks in Yau Tsim Mong district of Hong Kong on August 17. The volume of blood donated by 400 soldiers reached 160,000 ml in total. Since 1998, the PLA Hong Kong Garrison has organized 19 non-remunerated blood donations for Hong Kong residents with the cumulative number of donators exceeding 7,600 and the volume of blood collected in the donations reaching 3.38 million ml.

Senior Colonel Liao Zhengrong, deputy commander of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, said that since stationed in Hong Kong 19 years ago, the Garrison has been taking active part in public welfare activities and committed to deepening communication and interaction with Hong Kong people from all social sectors.

The 400 blood donators from the Garrison consisted of 385 male servicemen and 15 female ones. They had all passed rigorous examinations of physical and blood conditions conducted by the medical department of the Garrison.
