Chinese defense minister meets with Bangladesh air force leader

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (ChinaMil) -- General Chang Wanquan, the Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister, met with Abu Esrar, Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force, in Beijing on September 2, 2016. Gen. Chang said that being fellows like good brothers, China and Bangladesh have established a firm mutual trust basis.


Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached important consensuses last year on the development of China-Bangladesh relations, pointing out the directions for the development of relations between the two countries and two militaries, General Chang said.


China highly appreciates the firm support from Bangladesh on issues regarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including those of Taiwan issue, Tibet-related issues, Xinjiang-related issues and the South China Sea dispute, Gen. Chang added.


Gen. Chang expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Bangladesh side to strengthen cooperation in various fields and promote regional common prosperity and development.


Chang said that having the brother-like friendship, the Chinese military and the Bangladesh Armed Forces have been steadily pushing forward pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and China is willing to continuously offer its assistances to the Bangladesh military.


Gen. Chang hoped that the two militaries may constantly explore new fields of contacts and positively create new highlights in bilateral cooperation, so as to make efforts for the comprehensive development of the relations between the two countries.


Gen. Abu Esrar, Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force, said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China over 40 years ago, the friendly relations between the two countries have been developing smoothly.


Gen. Esrar expressed that China and Bangladesh are reliable all-weather friends, which has withstood the tests of time. Bangladesh appreciates China’s support and assistance in the past years and is willing to make joint efforts with China to strengthen cooperation, so as to promote the in-depth development of the relations between the two countries and two militaries, he added.
