BEIJING, Oct. 18 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese military is keeping close watch on the U.S.-ROK joint naval exercise, China's Defense Ministry said on Monday.

The information office of the ministry made the remarks when asked about China's response to the behavior of the United States Forces Korea (USFK), which showed media the taking-off and landing training of the ship-based aircraft on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan in the Yellow Sea a few days ago.

The USS Ronald Reagan of the U.S. Navy participated in the large-scale joint naval exercise staged by the U.S. and South Korea from Oct. 10 to 15.

The information office told the press that China has been paying close attention to the joint naval exercise conducted by the U.S. and South Korea in the adjacent sea areas of South Korea recently. “We hope relevant parties would exercise calmness and restraint and refrain from actions that would escalate tension in the region,” a leading official of the office said.
