Defense Ministry confirms material assistance to Cambodian armed forces

BEIJING, Oct. 19 (ChinaMil) -- As a concrete action to deepen pragmatic cooperation between the militaries of the two countries, China will provide a batch of medical equipment and office supplies to the Cambodian Armed Forces in support for the national defense construction and military development of Cambodia, the information office of China's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday when answering reporters' questions on China-Cambodia military cooperation.

According to a report on the official website of the Defense Ministry, the information office was asked to confirm a piece of news saying that the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh told press on October 17 that the two countries had signed an agreement on the assistance China would provide to Cambodia for its military modernization drive.

Bilateral military relations are an important part of the state relations between China and Cambodia and have been maintaining a sound momentum of development for a long time, the information office stated, adding that from October 10 to 15, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh attended the 7th Xiangshan Forum in Beijing and paid an official visit to China, and during his China visit, the Chinese side decided to provide medical devices and office supplies to the Cambodian military to support Cambodia's national defense and military development and to deepen military-to-military cooperation between the two countries.
