ZHUHAI, Nov. 2 (ChinaMil) -- The 11th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) kicked off in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province, at 9:30 on the morning of November 1.
Astronauts Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong of Shenzhou-11 manned flight on duty in China's space lab Tiangong-2 expressed their best wishes to Chinese pilots of the 11th Airshow China from the 393-kilometer height above the earth.
The six-day-long air show has a total of 11 pavilions occupying 430,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibition area. 151 aircraft of different types have joined the show. The number of international participants has further expanded. There are more than 700 domestic and foreign exhibitors from 42 countries and regions and the proportion of foreign exhibitors accounted for about 45 percent.
The organizers of the show introduced that with the development of military and civil integration, exhibition on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), business jets and other related civilian products and industrial chain exhibits and technology is richer. A special pavilion with the themed of military and civil integration is also added this year.
The PLA Air Force, as the only military sponsor of Airshow China this year, brings over 110 pieces of exhibits including 18 types of aircraft, missiles, radars and other main combat equipment. Half of these exhibits are open to public for the first time, indicating that the PLA Air Force is more open as it brings more new equipment this year.
There are five modules of static exhibition including air combat force, air defense and anti-missile, early warning, strategic delivery and airborne equipment. H-6K, KJ-500, J-10B, Y-9, Z-10K and other aircraft of PLA Air Force are open to public at the air show.
Aerobatic performance is definitely a highlight of this year's air show. The Chinese PLA Bayi Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows Aerobatic Team of Britain Royal Air Force, the Russian Knights and Swift aerobatic teams and the Pakistani Air Force will provide stunning aerobatic performance for visitors.
Particularly, the Russian Knights and Swift teams will have their debut show as a mixed acrobatic team outside Russia.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of Airshow China. Under the principals of the Belt and Road Initiative and the integration of military and civil development, Airshow China has built a platform for exchange, cooperation and trade negotiations for international aviation, aerospace and defense industry thanks to the show's growing internationalization, specialization, marketization and branding capacity.
