KUNMING, Feb. 21 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan recently paid a border defense inspection tour in Dehong Autonomous Prefecture of Southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

Situated in western Yunnan, Dehong Autonomous Prefecture shares a boundary of 504 kilometers (313 miles) with Myanmar in the south, west and northwest.

Gen. Chang came to troop units, frontier check points, villages and primary schools to get the detailed information about border management and control, border defense infrastructure development and national defense education.

Chang said that personnel working on the border-defense frontlines should fully realize the complex and severe situations China's national security now faces. Yunnan, as a border province located in southwestern China with the unique regional advantages, has the especially important position in China’s overall strategy of national security and development, Chang stressed.
