Chinese defense minister meets Kyrgyz chief of staff

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Defense Minister Chang Wanquan on Thursday met visiting general chief of staff of the Kyrgyz armed forces Duishenbiyev.

Chang said China's armed forces attaches great importance to the relations with their Kyrgyz counterparts, and were willing to work with the Kyrgyz side to implement consensus reached between the two heads of states, deepen cooperation between the two countries' armed forces, and strengthen communication and coordination in defense and security fields within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, so to make new contributions to safeguarding the security and stability of the two countries and the region.

Duishenbiyev expressed appreciation of China's assistance to Kyrgyzstan and said the Kyrgyz side was willing to work with China to strengthen cooperation in all fields and promote the development of military-to-military relations.
