ISLAMABAD, March 24 (ChinaMil) -- Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain expressed thanks to the Chinese troops for participating in the Pakistan Day parade at a speech delivered in capital Islamabad on Thursday.

A grand parade celebrating the Pakistan Day was held in Islamabad on the same morning. The 72-member honor guard of the three services of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) participated in the parade at the invitation of the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa. It is the first time Chinese troops participated in this parade.

Li Jianbo, deputy commander of the PLA Beijing Garrison and head of the PLA honor guard of this parade, said at the rehearsal that their participation in the Pakistan Day parade was a sign of deepening ties between two sides.

The Chinese military is increasingly going global to help expand the influence of the PLA and enhance friendship and mutual trust between militaries and countries, said Li.

Pakistan Day is a national holiday in Pakistan that commemorates the Lahore Resolution, which was passed to establish Pakistan by the All-India Muslim League in Lahore on March 23, 1940.
