BEIJING, April 28 (ChinaMil) -- General Chang Wanquan, Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister, met with Stanislav Zas, state secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.

Gen. Chang said that China and Belarus are good friends and sincere partners. In 2016, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko jointly announced that the two countries would establish a comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and win-win cooperation.

Gen. Chang hoped that the two countries should take the "Belt and Road" initiative as an opportunity to align development strategies, promote economy, achieve win-win cooperation and contribute to the wellbeing of the two countries' people.

The friendly relations between Chinese and Belarusian militaries have continued to develop and the remarkable accomplishments have been made in all areas of practical cooperation, Chang continued.

Under the guidance of the two countries' leaders, China is willing to work with Belarus to expand the fields of defense cooperation and contribute to the development of bilateral relations and regional peace and stability, said Chang.

Stanislav Zas said that there have been increasing strategic mutual trust and deepening cooperation in various fields over the past 25 years since Belarus and China established diplomatic relations.

The cooperation between the two militaries has broad prospects for cooperation and Belarus is willing to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields and push the relations to a new level, he added.
