WUHAN, May 3 (ChinaMil) -- The joint logistics support units of the Chinese PLA have started to transport and distribute the clothing and bedding materials directly through civil logistics channels.
On the morning of April 27, nine cargo vehicles of civil logistics firms gathered in front of a quartermaster depot in Hubei Province, which belongs to the joint logistics support force of the PLA. After loaded with various types of clothing and bedding materials, the nine cargo vehicles departed from the depot and headed directly for their destinations --- dozens of troop units under the army, navy, air force, rocket force and strategic support force of the PLA stationed in Hubei.
According to a responsible officer of the PLA's Wuhan Joint Logistics Support Base, since last year, the base has started the pilot program of carrying out direct distribution of materials with the help of civil logistics firms to simplify the previous complicated clothing and bedding distribution procedures which were time-consuming with low efficiency.
The civil logistics firms invited to participate in the pilot program have all been required to sign confidential agreements with the military.
A total of six quartermaster depots under the base have been designated to carry out the pilot program.
