Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment to Darfur passes UN assessment

DARFUR, May 15 (ChinaMil) -- The 13th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment to Sudan's Darfur passed the assessment carried out by a team from the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on May 12 on the detachment's capability of implementing peacekeeping missions.

The results showed that the detachment had the excellent performance on all the assessment items.

During the assessment, members of the UNAMID team carried out inspection and assessment on 102 items in 6 categories, including the detachment's combat capability, status awareness, communication and command, and logistics support, and they also randomly examined the detachment's officers and soldiers.

“The Chinese engineers have done excellent work, showcasing their first-class technical level and superb professional accomplishment,” said the leader of the UNAMID team after completing the assessment.
