China, Pakistan vow to enhance naval relations

BEIJING, May 16 (ChinaMil) -- Vice Admiral Shen Jinlong, commander of the PLA Navy, held talks with Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy in Beijing on the afternoon of May 15.

Shen Jinlong said that the friendship between the two countries remains unshakable and has become even firmer, and the naval relations between the two countries is close and the pragmatic cooperation has been deepened constantly.

Shen hopes that the two sides will continue to hold bilateral and multilateral joint maritime exercises on a regular basis, and continue to expand and deepen the exercise subjects to enhance the capability of joint operations to cope with security threats.

The two navies can strengthen ship visits, promote the exchange of naval officers and soldiers, deepen cooperation among naval aviation troops, establish a sound cooperation mechanism and make good use of expert-level work meeting mechanism in order to promote the development of bilateral naval relations and maintain regional maritime security and stability, Shen added.

Zakaullah said that the friendship between Pakistan and China has deep foundations and Pakistan attaches great importance to friendly relations with China.

He hopes that the two sides can strengthen the pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in various fields to promote the development of naval relations between the two countries.

Shen Jinlong held a welcoming ceremony for Zakaullah and accompanied him to inspect the guard of honor of the PLA Navy before the meeting.
