Chinese naval fleet ends friendly visit to Malaysia

PENANG, MALAYSIA, May 16 (ChinaMil) -- An ocean-going navy fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA) left Penang (George Town) in Malaysia on May 15, 2017, after completing its four-day friendly port visit to Malaysia.

During the visit, the commanding officer of the Chinese naval fleet met with the military and political leaders of Malaysia, and the government officials and navy officers of Malaysia attended the deck reception held by the Chinese naval fleet. Sailors of the two navies carried out a series of visits and exchanges as well as friendly football matches and other activities.

The guided-missile destroyer Changchun (Hull 150) and the guided-missile frigate Jingzhou (Hull 532) were open to the representatives of the local overseas Chinese and Malaysian sailors, attracting about 3,000 visitors.

Representatives of the Chinese naval fleet attended the evening reception at the joint invitation of the Chinese consulate and associations of overseas Chinese.

Malaysia is the third leg of the Chinese naval fleet's long ocean-going voyage. After its visit to Malaysia, the fleet is scheduled to head for Rangoon, capital of Myanmar, for a friendly port call.
