BEIJING, May 18 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese Defense Minister and State Councilor Gen. Chang Wanquan held talks with Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, the visiting minister of state for defense affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Beijing on May 17, 2017.
Gen. Chang said the UAE is one of China's best friends and partners in the Persian Gulf region. Since establishing a strategic partnership, China and the UAE have been earnestly implementing the roadmap on bilateral relations jointly made by the two countries' top leaders, ushering in an all-round, pragmatic, efficient and fast growth of bilateral ties, he said.
China hopes to work with the UAE to take the opportunity of the Belt and Road initiative to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and realize win-win development, Chang stated.
In recent years, the China-UAE military ties have maintained a good development momentum, the frequent mutual visits and deepened cooperation on personnel training have also achieved fruitful results, Chang said.
China is willing to join hands with the UAE in deepening cooperation in various fields and pushing for higher-level development of the military ties, Chang added.
Bowardi said China has made great contributions to world peace as a responsible major country and the UAE has full confidence in a sustainable development of the friendly ties between the two countries.
He expressed that the UAE is willing to work with China to enhance communication and coordination on issues of common concern and continue to push forward the strategic partnership to benefit the well-being of the two peoples.
Before the meeting, Gen. Chang Wanquan held a welcoming ceremony for Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi and accompanied him to review the honor guard of the Chinese PLA.
