NAQOURA, LEBANON, May 18 (ChinaMil) -- The 15th Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineer detachment to Lebanon has been granted by the UN the Certificate of Appreciation, the top collective honor for the UN peacekeeping forces in different mission areas.

Major General Michael Beary, who is Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), conferred the Certificate of Appreciation on the Chinese detachment at the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon on May 16.

“The 15th Chinese peacekeeping multifunctional engineer detachment to Lebanon with its strict discipline and professional dedication has been always doing excellent work, being a model of the UNIFIL forces,” Beary praised the Chinese peacekeepers in his order of commendation.

The award not only means recognition and trust, but also responsibility and obligation, said Colonel Pu Yi, commanding officer of the 15th Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon.

Since its deployment to the mission area in Lebanon in last May, the Chinese engineer detachment has completed with flying colors various kinds of tasks including mine-clearing and explosive-removing, road repair, fortification construction as well as humanitarian assistance.
