HONG KONG, June 6 (ChinaMil) -- Hongkong Post announced on June 5 that a stamp sheetlet on the theme of "The 20th Anniversary of the Stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Hong Kong", together with associated philatelic products, will be issued on June 20.
Hongkong Post said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison is stationed by the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for defense duties.
Since its stationing in the HKSAR on July 1, 1997, the Hong Kong Garrison has adhered to the guiding principle of "one country, two systems", strictly abided by the Basic Law and the Garrison Law in discharging its defense functions in the HKSAR and upheld national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and the security of Hong Kong.
Hongkong Post is issuing a stamp sheetlet in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Hong Kong.
Shown on the right side of the stamp sheetlet is the Chinese People's Liberation Army Forces Hong Kong Building at the Central Harbourfront. The Hong Kong Garrison is the only garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army comprising units from the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The stamp displays the strong and gallant Guard of Honour formed by the three forces.
