India test-fired its anti-tank guided missile namely Nag, Defense Ministry officials said on Wednesday.

The missile was test-fired in desert ranges of western state of Rajasthan on Tuesday by India's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

"The anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) Nag was successfully flight tested in the desert ranges of Rajasthan," Defense Ministry officials said. "The fire and forget 3rd generation ATGM Nag is incorporated with many advanced technologies including the imaging infrared radar (IIR) seeker with integrated avionics, a capability which is possessed by few nations in the world."

According to defense officials, capabilities of the top attack ATGM Nag are unique in nature and successfully destroyed the target.

"The successful flight test of 3rd generation ATGM Nag further strengthens the country's defence capabilities," G Satheesh Reddy, director general of Missiles and Strategic Systems in the DRDO said.

Senior officials from the Indian military participated in the tests, officials said.
