HONG KONG, July 17 (ChinaMil) -- The annual Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp opened at the San Wai Barracks of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison on Monday morning. A total of 500 students from 126 middle schools in Hong Kong attended the opening ceremony.
The summer camp runs from July 16 to July 30. The campers will receive military theme training including physical training, formation drill, basic combat readiness training, the use of the map and so on.
Youth Military Summer Camp is jointly sponsored by the Hong Kong-based Concerted Efforts Resource Centre, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the PLA Hong Kong Garrison. More than 3,200 Hong Kong teenagers have participated in the summer camp since it inaugurated in July 2005.
The military summer camp has proved to be a great success in strengthening the exchange and communication between the PLA Hong Kong Garrison troops and the teenagers of Hong Kong, enhancing the Hong Kong teenagers' national consciousness, national identity and national defense awareness.
