Chinese Army teams heads to Russia for IAG 2017

ZHENGZHOU, July 21 (ChinaMil) -- Four teams of the Chinese PLA Army participating in the International Army Games (IAG) 2017 flew to Russia on July 20, 2017.

The Chinese PLA Army will participate in four events including the Tank Biathlon (competition among tank crews), the Army Scout Masters (competition among reconnaissance units), the Elbrus Ring (competition among mountain units) and the Maintenance Battalion (competition among maintenance units) of the IAG 2017.

The four events will be held from July 29 to August 12 in four places respectively, namely, Alabino shooting range of Moscow region, Novosibirsk, Terskol of Kabardino-Balkaria and Omsk.

Teams from 19 countries including China and Russia will compete in multiple rounds.

Colonel Zhang Jianhua, commanding officer of the PLA Army teams, said that the IAG 2017 is jointly hosted by China, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Officers and soldiers from different countries can learn from each other through the competition and further strengthen exchanges with each other through the IAG, Zhang added

It is said that the Chinese PLA Army will host another four events including the Suvorov Attack, the Clear Sky, the Safe Environment and the Gunsmith Master in Korla, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Equipment exhibition and cultural exchange activities will also be carried out during the competition to enhance the comprehensive benefits of the IAG, according to sources.
