JUBA, July 20 (ChinaMil) --All 331 members of the Chinese peacekeeping engineer and medical detachments to South Sudan were granted with the United Nations Peace Medals of Honor for their outstanding performance in implementing UN peacekeeping missions on July 18, local time.

The medal-awarding ceremony was held by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at the UN House in Wau, South Sudan.

Since deployed to their mission areas, the two Chinese peacekeeping detachments have fulfilled over 200 construction projects and medical assistance tasks such as upgrading fortifications at UN House in Wau, rush-repairing roads, rescuing and treating sick refugees, providing assistance in construction of local schools, participating in local fire fighting operations and rescue work of a crashed civilian plane at the Wau Airport.
