China sends teams to Russia and Kazakhstan for IAG 2017

BEIJING, July 26 (ChinaMil) -- At the invitation of the Ministry of National Defense of the Russian Federation, China has sent eight teams from the Army, Navy and Air Force of the People's Liberation Army to participate in eight competitions of the 2017 International Army Games (IAG) to be held in Russia and Kazahkstan from July 29 to August 12, local time.

The PLA Army's five teams will participate in the competitions of Tank Biathlon, Army Scout Master, Elbrus Ring, Maintenance Battalion in Russia and Sniper Frontier in Kazakhstan.

Two teams from the PLA Navy will compete with teams from foreign navies in the events of Sea Cup and Seaborne Assault, and the PLA Air Force's team will participate in the Keys to the Sky, a competition among air-defense missile troops.

The members of the Chinese Army teams are from the PLA's Northern, Southern and Central Theater Commands, the Xinjiang and Tibet Military Commands. And this is the first time for a mountain brigade stationed in Tibet to participate in international military competitions.

The two Chinese teams to participate in navy events come from the Northern Theater Command and the Marine Corps of the PLA Navy.

Since early July, the air and railroad transportation of the troops and equipment of the Chinese teams have started, and all the Chinese teams and their hardware have arrived at the competition venues.

The guided missile frigate Huangshi to participate in the Sea Cup competition set sail July 22 from Qingdao and is expected to arrive in Vladivostok of Russia on July 26, local time.
