PLA Air Force commander meets Cambodian counterpart

BEIJING, Aug 23 (ChinaMil) -- Member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the Chinese PLA Air Force Gen. Ma Xiaotian met with the visiting Commander of Royal Cambodian Air Force Lt. Gen. Soeung Samnang in Beijing on Aug 22.

Gen. Ma said that Chinese-Cambodian friendship has a long history. The two countries have always understood and firmly supported each other on their core interests and major concerns for a long time.

In recent years, frequent mutual visits of the two countries' leaders have provided new impetus and pointed out a new direction for the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, Ma continued.

The relationship between the two militaries is an important part of the relations between the two countries, and is developing well, Ma added.

The two air forces should further strengthen cooperation in the fields of personnel training, professional and technical exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, trust and friendship, and push the relationship between the two air forces to a new level, Ma said.

Lt. Gen. Soeung Samnang said that the bilateral relationship between Cambodia and China has been developing smoothly. Cambodia cherishes the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and resolutely upholds the One-China policy.

He also thanked the Chinese government and military for their long-term assistance to the Cambodian people and military.

The Cambodian Air Force was established and developed under the help of the Chinese PLA Air Force, Lt. Gen. Soeung Samnang said, adding that the Cambodian side hopes to continue and push forward the friendly cooperation between the two air forces.
