BEIJING, Sept. 8 (ChinaMil) -- China's State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Chief of General Staff of Austrian Armed Forces Othmar Commenda in Beijing on Thursday afternoon.

Chang that since China and Austria established diplomatic ties in 1971, friendliness and cooperation have always been the main theme of bilateral relations.

China is willing to make joint efforts with Austria to implement the important consensuses reached by the heads of state of the two countries, based on the principle of mutual respect, equal treatment and win-win cooperation, push forward the Belt and Road Initiative, creating more benefits for the two countries and their peoples, said Chang.

He praised the great development momentum of the relations between Chinese and Austrian militaries, and hoped the two militaries will deepen their exchange and cooperation in various fields including personnel training, international peacekeeping and national defense mobilization.

Commenda said the Austrian Armed Forces attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and is willing to expand and deepen practical exchange and cooperation between the two militaries.
