Chinese peacekeepers to Mali take part in military parade marking UN Day

GAO, Mali, Oct. 25 (ChinaMil) -- The 5th Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali was invited to participate in the United Nations Day military parade organized by the Sector East of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on October 24, 2017. This was the first time for the 5th Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali to dispatch its “blue helmet” guard of honor, comprising 29 members from its guarding detachment, to participate in the event.

The UN has deployed peacekeeping forces from 37 countries in Mali’s various mission areas, and in the Gao mission area there are 17 peacekeeping detachments from 9 countries including three detachments of the Chinese peacekeeping force.

Peacekeeping troops from countries including China, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia and Senegal participated in the parade. The acting force commander of the MINUSMA Sector East, Staff members from the MINUSMA Civil Affairs Division, Military personnel from the Headquarters of the MINUSMA Sector East and commanding officers of peacekeeping forces from various nations attended the whole event on Tuesday.
