HONGKONG, Dec. 6 (ChinaMil) -- Part of army, navy and air force officers of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) completed a rotation on Dec. 5, 2017.
It has been the 19th officer rotation since the Garrison began to be stationed in Hong Kong on July 1, 1997.
The rotation is carried out in accordance with the Garrison Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the command of China's Central Military Commission (CMC).
A grand send-off ceremony was held for the departing officers at the San Tin barracks at 9:00 am on Dec. 5, and leaders expressed gratitude to them for their contributions to the Garrison.
The departing officers passed the Lok Ma Chau port in Hong Kong and Huanggang port in Shenzhen at 11:00 am, returning to the mainland.
It is learnt that most of the departing officers came to work at the PLA Hong Kong Garrison three years ago.
When stationed in Hong Kong, they have earnestly performed their duties, strictly implemented the "One Country, Two Systems" guideline, observed law and discipline, loved Hong Kong and the local people, and made important contributions to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, winning extensive praise from Hong Kong residents and social circles.
After leaving Hong Kong, they will be assigned to relevant military units and continue to serve the national defense and military modernization.
Incoming officers of the PLA army, navy and air force have already arrived in Hong Kong on Dec. 2. The total number of troops stationed in Hong Kong are kept unchanged after the rotation.
