GAO, Dec. 7 (ChinaMil) -- The fifth Chinese peacekeeping guard detachment in Mali received a report of an unexploded ordnance found by local villagers near the south gate of the peacekeeping camp on the afternoon of Dec. 5, local time.

The Chinese peacekeepers rushed to the scene and formed a circular alert area within a radius of 100 meters around the bomb.

Some Chinese peacekeepers persuaded locals to stay away from the unexploded ordnance through loudspeakers while others took prompt steps to disperse the crowd of onlookers.

The Cambodian explosive ordnance disposal peacekeepers were then called to the scene. They communicated with Chinese peacekeepers first and decided to blast the unexploded ordnance.

The Cambodian peacekeepers successfully completed the blasting after 15 minutes of intense work.

After confirming that there was no secondary danger on the scene, the Chinese peacekeepers withdrew the deterrent measures.
