Li Zuocheng meets with Mozambican counterpart

BEIJING, Dec. 20 (ChinaMil) -- General Li Zuocheng, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department under the CMC, met with Rear Admiral Lázaro Henriques Lopes Menete, chief of the General Staff of the Mozambique Defense Armed Forces (FADM), in Beijing on Tuesday.

Li said that the China-Mozambique comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation jointly promoted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Mozambique counterpart Filipe Nyusi has pointed out the direction for development of bilateral relations in the new era.

China and Mozambique are good friends, good partners and good brothers who weather hard times together, China appreciates and thanks Mozambique for its adherence to the one-China policy and its consistent firm support on issues concerning China's core interests and major concerns, Li said.

The Chinese military is willing to work with the Mozambican military, in line with the consensus reached by heads of state of the two countries, to deepen the mutual trust and exchange between the two militaries, strengthen cooperation in personnel training and military medical service, steadily pushing forward the relations between the two militaries, he added.

Li also briefed Menete of relevant information about the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Menete expressed his congratulations on the successful holding of the 19th National Congress of the CPC.

He said that the Mozambican military is grateful to the Chinese military for its long-term strong support and is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side.

Before their meeting, Li held a welcoming ceremony for Menete and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
