TASHKENT, Dec. 22 (ChinaMil) --  Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan at the Presidential Palace in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, on Wednesday afternoon.

Chang first conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Mirziyoyev. President Mirziyoyev expressed heartfelt gratitude and asked Chang to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes back to his Chinese counterpart.

Mirziyoyev said China is a close friend and reliable partner of Uzbekistan, his country firmly pursues the one-China policy and unswervingly supports the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is ready to work with China to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields for the benefits of the two peoples and maintenance of regional peace and stability.

Chang said this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, the China-Uzbekistan relations has entered a new era of development.

The Chinese side is ready to work with the Uzbek side to comprehensively implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, further promote the relations between the two countries and the two militaries and make new contributions to the development of the China-Uzbekistan all-round strategic partnership , Chang said.

On Wednesday morning, Chang held formal talks with his Uzbek counterpart Abdusalom Azizov and reviewed the honor guard of the Uzbek Armed Forces.
