China donates medical equipment to Cambodian military hospital

PHNOM PENH, Feb.27 (ChinaMil) -- A ceremony marking the handover of China’s medical equipment aid to Cambodia was held at Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Monday. The equipment, provided by China’s Ministry of Defense, was donated to the Preah Ket Mealea Hospital of the Cambodian armed forces.

During the handover ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Cambodia Tea Banh expressed thanks to China. He said that these medical equipment embodies China's support for Cambodia's medical development. China's assistance in all aspects is very important to the development of Cambodia and China is a great partner to Cambodia, he added.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo said that the exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces have been continuously strengthened and there have been fruitful results in military medical cooperation.

Xiong believed that the medical equipment will play active role in enhancing the medical level of the Preah Ket Mealea Hospital and supporting the development of Cambodia's health service.

The medical equipment donated includes 128-slice CT systems, extracorporeal circulation machines, cardiac ultrasound equipment and other modern medical devices. In addition, China also sent a medical team including 6 doctors to provide technical support and training at the Preah Ket Mealea Hospital.

Lieutenant General Ly Sovan, director of the hospital, said that these advanced equipment and Chinese doctors will help Cambodian doctors make better diagnoses in cancer, cerebral infarction and aneurysms and enhance their medical level.
