EZHOU, Feb. 28 (ChinaMil) -- China’s State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) jointly approved the establishment of a new civilian airport in Ezhou City of Hubei Province on Feb.23, 2018. The airport was referred to the "SF Express Airport".
SF Holding Co., Ltd. announced on Dec. 13, 2017 the signing of cooperation agreement with the Hubei Provincial People's Government to start an international logistics core hub project in Hubei, with the Ezhou Airport as the core.
According to the agreement, the Ezhou Airport will be a large airport tailored for SF Express and it will focused on air express transit operations and traditional air cargo business. When completed, it will become the Asia Pacific’s first and the world's fourth dedicated cargo hub.
According to the approval of the State Council and the CMC, the airport will also function as a regional passenger hub. By 2030, it will have a passenger throughput of 1.5 million person/times and a cargo and mail throughput of 3.3 million tons. The total investment in the airport is 37.26 billion yuan, of which 18.36 billion yuan will be used for airport projects.
SF Holding Co., Ltd. said in its semi-annual report for 2017 that it had set up China's first private cargo airline in 2009 and is the largest cargo airline with the largest cargo fleet in the country. Wuhan City is located in central China's Hubei Province and has natural geographical advantages. Therefore, SF aims to build its core logistics base at there.
