GAO, Mali, April 16 (ChinaMil) -- The 5th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment to Mali obtained an excellent mark in the peacekeeping capability assessment conducted by the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Apr. 12, local time. This is the first time that the 5th Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment has received such an assessment.

The UN peacekeeping capacity assessment aims to inspect the strength and weakness of the peacekeeping forces in different mission areas and is an important means to test whether they can effectively fulfill their missions.

A five-member assessment team from the MINUSMA Headquarters conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Chinese engineer detachment on more than 120 subjects in over 10 categories including combat training, mission execution, equipment management and logistical support from 10th to 12th of April.

The assessment team members were deeply impressed by the good weapons and equipment, careful-managed documents, and excellent professional capabilities of Chinese peacekeeping engineers. “ I believe you are able to successfully complete the various tasks assigned by MINUSMA,” said the team leader.
