CMC vice chairman meets Azerbaijani defense minister

BEIJING, April 28 (ChinaMil) -- China's Central Military Commission (CMC) Vice Chairman Xu Qiliang met with the visiting Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov in Beijing on Friday afternoon.

Xu said that China and Azerbaijan have a long tradition of friendship, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have witnessed increasingly deepened mutual political trust, continuous expansion of scale of cooperation in various fields and robust cultural exchanges.

China is willing to work with Azerbaijan, by seizing the favorable opportunity of the "Belt and Road Initiative" construction, to continue to maintain the good momentum of development of bilateral relations, further consolidate traditional friendship, and deepen pragmatic cooperation, Xu said.

As an important part of bilateral relations, the pragmatic military-to-military cooperation between the two countries has always maintained a healthy momentum of development and achieved remarkable results, Xu said, adding that the Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with the Azerbaijani military to strengthen the existing cooperation in various fields.

Hasanov said that Azerbaijan is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with China to play a greater role in the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", and promote the long-term and stable development of bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
