China, Tanzania pledge to enhance military cooperation

BEIJING, May 24 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe met with the visiting Chief of Defense Forces of the Tanzania People's Defense Force (TPDF) General Venance Mabeyo in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wei said that China and Tanzania have an unbreakable traditional friendship and are all-weather good friends, China will actively promote the building of a community of shared future for mankind and the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, adhere to the principle of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith and the values of upholding justice while pursuing shared interests, push forward the continuous development of China-Tanzania comprehensive partnership of cooperation.

Chinese People's Liberation Army and Tanzania People's Defense Force have maintained a special friendly relationship for a long time, China is willing to make joint efforts with Tanzania to further develop the pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries, said Wei.

Wei added that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, China will continue to deepen reforms, expand openness, achieve greater development, and contribute more to the world.

The Chinese armed forces will adhere to Xi Jinping’s thought of building a strong military and firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests, the Chinese defense chief said.

Tanzania and China share a brotherly friendship, Tanzania thanks China's long-term support and assistance to Tanzania and its military, Mabeyo said, adding that Tanzania strongly agrees with President Xi Jinping’s idea of building a community of shared future for mankind, is willing to actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and work with China to push forward the bilateral relations and relations between the two armed forces.
