BEIRUT, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun called upon Tuesday the army to remain alert and work on securing the nation's unity and civil peace, local online news Elnashra reported Tuesday.

"Lebanon was capable of winning against terrorism but this does not mean that the country is fully secure because Israel will not spare any chance to achieve its ambitions in the region," he said during his Order of the Day address to soldiers on the occasion of the 73rd Army Day to be marked Wednesday.

Aoun said that the Lebanese army will defend the country's rights and wealth and it will confront any attempt to mess up with these rights.

He added that this year is characterized by success in stopping terrorists in addition to taking serious measures to stop smuggling through illegal borders.
