VIENTIANE, Aug. 1 (ChinaMil) -- The “Peace Train 2018” China-Laos humanitarian and medical joint rescue exercise between Chinese and Laotian militaries successfully concluded on Tuesday. The two militaries spoke highly of the results of the joint exercise.
Maj. Gen. Onsy Senesouk, deputy minister of Laotian National Defense, presented the Friendship Medal to the Chinese military medical team participating in the exercise at the closing ceremony.
Director of the Health Department of the General Logistics Department of the Lao People's Armed Forces (LPAF) said at the closing ceremony that the joint exercise provided a platform for the medical staff of the two militaries to learn from each other and exchange experience in the health field, and the LPAF gained knowledge and valuable experience from the joint exercise, which will greatly improve their work efficiency in the future.
Maj. Gen. Liu Dianrong, deputy head of the Health Bureau of the Logistic Support Department of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), said at the closing ceremony that the Chinese “Peace Train” medical team came to Laos again to deepen the implementation of the important consensus on jointly building a community of shared destiny with strategic significance reached by the leaders of the two countries, and pragmatically promote the development of military health exchanges between the two militaries.
Tan Yingjun, leader of the Chinese “Peace Train” medical team, said that the Sepien-Senamnoi Hydropower Dam in Attapeu Province’s Sanamxay District, collapsed on July 23 during the joint exercise. The Chinese medical team immediately assessed the situation after the accident. At the request of the Laotian side, the Chinese medical team sent 32 staff to the front line on July 25, turning the exercise on flood disaster relief in a real battle.
