The former chief of Defense Staff General Ousman Bargie has been appointed as military attaché to China, President Adama Barrow has confirmed on Tuesday in press conference at State House.

The former CDS was initially said to have been appointed to the foreign services after he was relieved of his position as the number two in the military but had not officially reported to the said office and could be seen around town.

This prompted the journalists to ask the head of state to clarify that issue.

We have appointed him (OusmanBargie), where he should have gone to, we rescinded that but we gave him another position,” Barrow said. “He will be our military attaché to China, we have confirmed that and we have endorsed it.”

The Gaambian leader said the former CDS like many others have been assigned to various countries for foreign services. He said, in no time the former CDS will depart for his new assignment.

“It will take sooner than later he will go there. We have assigned other CDS to other places like Turkey and other countries like Saudi Arabia so now he will be going to China.”
