BEIJING, Sep. 12 (ChinaMil) -- The third land-based unmanned system competition “Crossing Obstacles 2018” hosted by the Armament Department of the PLA Army and undertaken by the PLA Army Research Institute held a press conference in Beijing on the morning of September 10, 2018.
The press conference briefed the overall situation of the coming competition and provided details about the competition events.
According to the briefing, the competition will kick off on September 12 and finish on September 20. And a high-level forum on the equipment technology and operational application of the land-based unmanned system will be conducted in late September.
The competition will involve 136 participating teams from 61 units, including 14 military and civilian colleges and universities, 26 private companies, 10 state-owned companies, and 11 research institutes, which contains most of the elite research teams of land unmanned systems in China.
The competition will include 10 competition events of 4 categories, such as autonomous manoeuvre and reconnaissance in the field, transportation of unmanned systems formation in the field, air-ground coordinated blockade and control, bionic robot competition, reconnaissance, strike and assault, and passage-opening in minefield.
It is said that the “Crossing Obstacles 2018” competition aims to link the technology development of land-based unmanned system and its application in the actual combat, and promote greater military-civilian integration, so as to provide technological support to the PLA Army’s transformation and development.
