Ukraine holds major multinational aviation drills

KIEV, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The international aviation exercises "Clear Sky-2018" kicked off in Ukraine on Monday with the participation of nine countries, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The drills are held at Starokonstyantyniv airfield in western Khmelnytsky region and Gavryshivka airfield in central Vinnytsya region.

The exercises, which are aimed at strengthening the interoperability among participating nations, involve personnel from Ukraine, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the United States.

The training features various kinds of aerial vehicles, including the U.S. F-15 fighter jets.

The drills focus on airspace protection, effective joint management and control, aeromedical evacuation, cyber defense and personnel recovery.

The "Clear Sky-2018" runs till Oct. 19.
