Funeral of Wang Ruilin held in Beijing

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The funeral of Wang Ruilin, a former member of the Central Military Commission, was held Wednesday in Beijing.

Wang, also former deputy head of the People's Liberation Army's now defunct general political department, passed away due to illness in Beijing on Dec. 8. He was 89.

Wang served as a secretary of the former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Li Zhanshu were among the people who on Wednesday morning paid their final respects to Wang at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery.

They paid tribute during a moment of silence, bowed three times in front of Wang's body, and extended condolences to his family.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao had either visited Wang when he was in the hospital or offered their condolences to his family after his death.
