China's 21st military medical aid team returns from Zambian mission

SHANGHAI, Jan. 21 (ChinaMil) -- After accomplishing their medical aid mission in Zambia, the 11 members of the 21st Chinese military medical aid team to aid Zambia returned to their motherland on the afternoon of January 18, 2019.

The military medical aid team left China and went to Zambia for a one-year medical aid mission in the General Hospital of the Zambian Defense Force in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia on January 10, 2018.

During the mission in Zambia, the Chinese military medical aid team received more than 10,000 patients, completed over 300 operations, and conducted hemodialysis for more than 500 patients despite risks of infection with diseases like AIDS and tuberculosis. Moreover, they taught local physicians all sorts of medical techniques.

Before the military medical aid team returned to China, all its members were conferred on the International Cooperation Medal by the Zambian Ministry of Defense to honor their remarkable contributions to Zambia.
