BEIJING, Jan. 24 (ChinaMil) -- On January 21st local time, the UN Equipment Inspection Team conducted the first equipment inspection for China’s 22nd peacekeeping engineer detachment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 2019. This inspection verified that all equipment and supplies of the Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment meet relevant UN standards.

According to Zeng Siyuan, commander of China’s 22nd peacekeeping engineer detachment to DRC, this inspection aimed to check whether the detachment’s weapons meet relevant standards in terms of volume and technical performance, as well as the conditions of vehicles, auxiliary equipment, and living facilities, and confirm whether the problems discovered in previous inspections had been fixed.

During the inspection, UN officials carefully checked more than 2,000 supplies and equipment in over 40 categories in the peacekeeping engineer detachment’s “China Peninsula” camp and task points, including weapons and ammunition, vehicles and machinery, barrack facilities, water purifying equipment, and office supplies. They also gave a detailed assessment on the volume and quality of various equipment and supplies as well as their maintenance plans. Besides that, they watched operators operating some equipment on site.
