BEIJING, Jan. 25 (ChinaMil) -- The Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) hosted the 2019 New Year Reception in Beijing on the evening of January 25 to celebrate the approaching Spring Festival, the traditional Chinese New Year. Over 240 military attachés to China and their spouses from more than 80 countries attended the reception on invitation.
State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe, who is member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), and General Li Zuocheng, Admiral Miao Hua, General Zhang Shengmin, who are also CMC members, attended the reception.
Leader of the Office for International Military Cooperation under the CMC delivered a speech on behalf of General Wei Fenghe. The speech said that the year of 2018 has been a year of sheer endeavor for the Chinese military, and a year of vigorous progress in China's military diplomacy. The Chinese military fully implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Xi's thinking on strengthening the military, and made new progress in building a strong armed forces.
In the new year of 2019, the Chinese military will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with militaries of other countries to jointly safeguard peace and development and jointly address risks and challenges. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will be more open and make greater contributions to building new types of international relations and a community of shared future for mankind.
Denmark's defense attaché to China Brigadier General Carsten Rasmussen spoke in response on behalf of all foreign military attachés to China, saying that the reform and opening-up have enabled China to make remarkable achievements in various fields. He wished that China will be more prosperous and Chinese military will make new achievements in its modernization drive.
