CHONGQING, April 2 (ChinaMil) – The Chinese military held its first International Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training course from March 26 to 30, 2019, at the PLA Army Medical University in Chongqing city of southwest China. The training was led by the Logistic Support Department under China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and undertaken by the PLA Ground Force’s Logistics Department.
Seven foreign combat wounds medical specialists from Pakistan, Serbia and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with four Chinese military medical experts, conducted a five-day intensive training for 90 front-line backbone medical personnel selected from China’s military medical institutions and peacekeeping standby forces.
Focused on the theme of effective treatment for wartime injuries, the training included instruction and tutoring, case analysis as well as group discussions and exchanges of ideas, highlighting such special topics as combat wounds treatment principles, injury assessment and classification, combat wounds treatment methods and techniques, medical evacuation procedure and strategy, and the practice and application of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
ICRC experts shared their practical experience in handling mass casualties in local wars and armed conflicts. Chinese military experts introduced the latest achievements in front-line treatment capacity-building and their experience of treating the critically wounded.
A Chinese military medical expert participating in the training said that “this training is a venue for exchanges between the Chinese and international combat wounds concepts and techniques. It will promote medical service training and war readiness for the Chinese military and improve the front-line treatment capability and medical treatment level in war time”.
