Pakistan navy chief visits Chinese shipyards

The high-level delegation of Pakistani Navy recently visited Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd.

SHANGHAI, April 29 (ChinaMil) -- According to the Pakistan media reports, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of Pakistan, visited Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai and the Wuhan Shuangliu Base of Wuchang Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., and met with heads of the relevant Chinese shipbuilding corporations.

The reports said that Admiral Abbasi visited the Type 054AE/P frigate and the S-20 conventionally-powered submarine being built for the Pakistan Navy. He also visited different departments of the two shipyards and listened to the briefing on the latest development of all Pakistan’s projects under construction.


Pakistani delegation recently visited the submarine segments in Shanghai and the Wuhan Shuangliu Base of Wuchang Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd.

Admiral Abbasi also had a meeting with the heads of several Chinese shipbuilding corporations, including China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co., Ltd. (CSOC), Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. (HZS) and the Wuhan Shuangliu Base of Wuchang Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. Both sides discussed the relevant issues of the projects under construction and future cooperation.

According to the pictures released by the Pakistan media, Admiral Abbasi also attended a naming ceremony during his visit to the Shuangliu base in Wuhan, capital city of China’s Hubei Province, and named the S-20 class submarine built for Pakistan “Hangor”, as the first one of Hangor Class.
